Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 2026
Draft note: a full audit (screen reader pass + keyboard-only pass on every page) should be done before public launch and this statement updated with the results.
Our commitment
The academy exists to open doors for young people who are usually left out. The website should do the same for its visitors. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What we've built in
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure on every page.
- Descriptive alt text on all photographs.
- Colour contrast meeting AA on text and interactive elements.
- Full keyboard navigation; visible focus outlines; forms with proper labels.
- Animations are disabled automatically for visitors with "reduce motion" enabled.
- Responsive layout that works at 200% zoom and on small screens.
- No time limits, no auto-playing sound, no flashing content.
Known limitations
- Embedded third-party content (YouTube, Instagram, Google Drive players) may not meet the same standard; we cannot fully control those players. Where possible we describe the video's content in nearby text.
- Most performance videos do not yet have captions or transcripts — dance leads, but we plan to add short text descriptions of each featured performance.
- The site is currently in English; a Kinyarwanda version is planned.
